Computers, mobile phones and cameras have become an essential thing to own nowadays.
Decades ago, people live without all the electronic gadgets such as laptops, cell phones and the internet. But times have changed. We are always staying connected 24 hours 7 days a week.
Posting update status on what we are doing currently on Twitter, Facebook, and every thoughts that we have at the moment, no doubt these electronic devices have made a change in our lifestyle.
But the question is, is it worth it to buy the latest gadgets, the latest updates?
In terms of saving money for a rainy day, it is not worth it. In fact, if you browse through old computer news magazines, you will realize that your temptation to get a new gadget will fade away very fast. Just flip through those magazines. Look at how expensive those gadgets were priced. A laptop costing $5,000 and above! And look at the value now if you were to sell them off at today’s market. In fact, no body would want that old laptop anymore and it might even cost you money to dump it!
Even cameras with 4 Megapixels cost $500 for a piece a decade ago. With that price now, you can probably purchase a semi-professional or amateur DSLR camera yourself.
So is it worth it to purchase the latest gadgets? No, if you cannot afford and do not want to get a heart attack from buying the same technology 1 year later to find out that the price has dropped tremendously. But if you can really afford and have money to burn, of course, just buy them! It will probably last you a good few months to show off that sleek IPhone 4 (at the moment, the hottest phone) and after a while a newer model has come.
However, since it is now a necessity more than a luxury, computers, mobile phones and cameras are important in our everyday lives. At least to people living in the city and staying in touch via the internet world. Purchasing a cheaper model does not mean that it’s of a lower quality too. Nowadays, technology gadgets have become so cheap and lasting. Well, that’s a general statement anyway and it’s cheaper in the sense when you buy for an older version of the latest technology. For example, a decade ago when you have always wanted to buy yourself a color phone, and guess what, you can buy them now for a fraction of the cost! Of course it will not be as fashionable as before, at least it’s still a color phone and the battery can last twice as longer than previously.
